2025 CATT Academy Championship – Carolina Anglers Team Trail

I don’t believe there’s a Chinese zodiac sign or animal for the year of the wind, but I’m officially making 2025 the “year of the wind” on the Albemarle sound! Our animal/ fish would have to be the largemouth bass cause no matter how hard it blows these guys keep chasing these bass! The team that was willing to make a Run in the wind today made it payoff. The team of Rick Plemons and Chris Pike brought a 23.38 lb bag to the scales anchored by an 8.35 lb river pig! All Totaled up that bag earned them a $2030 payday. Check out the upcoming interview with Rick and Chris. Rick Plemons gives some great info on how they got it done on a rather tough day.

In second place was our 2024 AOY winners Randy and Ryan Broughman with 14.91 lbs. The word around weigh in was Randy had to take it easy on the fish today due to a bum shoulder. once he gets that wing fixed he assured me that there will be some bass with sore mouths running around these rivers! Until then it looks like Ryan is more than capable at taking up the slack.

In third place was the team of Nick Meek and Kyle Verkuilen with 14.81 lbs. These two guys have fished with us quite a few years and are definitely figuring them out!

Rounding out the money winners were

4th Kirk and Trent Nixon 13.66 lbs

5th Jordan Sanderlin 13.00 lbs

The next tournament in the Tidewater division will be May 10th out of Shoups landing on Chowan River.
